kristen Dammer, LCSW
therapist/Clinical Social Worker
who i work with:
I help adults find relief from your anxiety and recover from trauma, women adjust to pregnancy, and moms cope with postpartum depression or anxiety. So many of us suffer from our past affecting our present self and relationships in silence, not knowing how much it has really affected you as a person. Life changes such as pregnancy and a new baby can have a big impact on your mental well-being. My hope is to help you process, understand and eventually find a bit of acceptance, free from the guilt that unsettles so many women and mothers. Therapy that focuses specifically on maternal mental health issues may be the answer you are looking for to help you regain a sense of control over your life.
how therapy can help you:
I strongly believe that taking care of your mind can free yourself and your body. I can help you manage your anxiety, overcome your PTSD or trauma, cope with your grief, and master your postpartum depression or anxiety. During our therapy sessions, together we will process, grieve, understand and eventually find some acceptance. With a focus on your relationships and how your anxiety, grief or trauma is affecting your connections with others, we can find a path to healing. Through caring and compassionate listening and guiding, I can help you adjust to your new life with joy and excitement, instead of dread and sorrow.
I believe in addressing the whole health needs of you as a person, and my dedication, creativity, and flexibility as a therapist are my greatest strengths. My holistic approach to anxiety, grief and trauma helps you feel in control and creates a welcoming environment for you to share your vulnerabilities, fears, and experiences. I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and use it to treat anxiety and trauma, and I constantly work at creating an atmosphere for you of safety and light. I have extensive experience working with people with a variety of other issues including depression, trauma, anxiety, vicarious trauma, relationships, grief and loss, and caregiver stress. I have two elementary-aged kids and I myself experienced birth trauma and also postpartum mood issues that may help me better understand your unique situation. I love doing yoga, playing volleyball, and being in the mountains.
