What to expect from the Mental Health Starter Kit Group:
The Mental Health Starter Kit group size is small with up to 6 people per group. We know you want to get the most out of your group experience. Also, a small group is better for those who might have some social anxiety about being with others.
We would like you to connect in important ways to your other group members. So, the Mental Health Starter Kit is not designed as a drop-in group. Because of that you will see the same people in your group from week to week.
This Mental Health Starter Kit meets weekly for 6 weeks. This is an interactive and creative way for you to explore core wellness and mental health health concepts and to do that best we meet weekly.
A therapy group or group counseling means that we will provide you with skills and knowledge that you can take from group and apply to your life. Our Mental Health Starter Kit is a fun way to connect with others and explore what counseling is all about. The Mental Health Starter Kit group offers you a safe place to try new skills.
As a student or young adult, we know you have a busy schedule. That is why the Mental Health Starter Kit group is an online group. How we do this is you will be sent a login link the day of your group session and all you need to do to join is to click the link. We believe that online groups offer the flexibility you need while cutting down on your commute time. Make sure that you have a safe and confidential space to join the group session.
Not sure if the mental health starter kit group is right for you?
Absolutely. We understand. You're not even sure you want to be in any type of counseling, much less a group! You're getting anxious even just thinking about it. And guess what? You're not the only one. Almost everyone is nervous to try therapy or group for the first time. We know this and we talk about this openly during the very first group session.
And, good news, this is not your typical therapy group. In the Intro to Mental Wellness and Counseling Group, you're only committing to 6 sessions. And there is no requirement for opening up and sharing your pain with others. Instead, this group gives you a good introduction to what counseling is all about. You'll also learn some invaluable skills and have fun while you're doing it.
You can check out our blog When Should I Go To Therapy? to see if the time is right for you to join the Intro to Mental Wellness and Counseling Group. We make joining this group as easy as possible, and know that the outcomes you'll see are worth it.
An additional option you have, if you're still unsure about if/how this Intro to Mental Wellness and Counseling Group can help you, is to contact us for a free 20 minute phone consultation. Our Scheduling Coordinator can give you all the information you'll need about the group and answer any questions you might have. We created this group for people just like you, who want to dip your toes into counseling but aren't yet ready for the full-on commitment of traditional talk therapy. Who knows? You might just enjoy yourself!
